Discussion Questions on Readings
Instructor: Bruce Mork
Write a question that you think might produce an interesting discussion about each of the assigned chapters or about some aspect of each chapter. These questions will be directed to other members of your group during the group discussion period (or as many as you get to) and then turned in to the instructor, along with the group record sheet. These will obviously not be factual questions, although they may certainly involve interpretation of the facts.
Questions can involve content: What is the main idea of...? How does... affect....? Explain why.... Explain how.... What is the difference between ... and ...? How are .... and .... similar? Questions can involve evaluation: How well did the author support her argument that....? What were the strengths and weaknesses of the author's approach to....? What were the flaws in the argument that...? What do you think needs to be added to strengthen the argument that....? Questions can involve imagination: What would be a new example of? What if...? How could the such and so problem described in this chapter be remedied? What more does this chapter leave you wanting to know? Questions can involve emotion: Who did you like least and why? Who did you like most and why? What was there in this chapter that got you excited? What got your depressed?
