Parks & Trails within 20 Minutes of Campus
Bagley Nature Area :
Fifty-five acres of forest, pond, and open area right here on the northwest part of campus. This is a wonderful place for running, cross-country skiing, walking, or any other quiet outdoor activity with sections of old growth forest and wildlife galore. Chester Bowl :
Downhill and cross-country skiing in the winter. Hiking trails, picnic, and recreational areas in the summer. Chester Bowl is located just Southwest of campus at 1800 E. Skyline Parkway.Duluth Lakewalk & Bike Trail :
A 4-mile long paved bike/pedestrian trail along the shore of Lake Superior. The lakeshore along the Lakewalk offer numerous sites for wading in the lake, picnicking, or contemplative thoughts. Access the Lakewalk either at 26 th Avenue East (follow 21 st Avenue East past the freeway entrance) or in Canal Park.
Enger Park :
This Duluth landmark is noted for its huge rock tower giving visitors a bird’s-eye view of Duluth’s harbor. Japanese temple bell and flower gardens surround picnic tables and outdoor grills. Located along Skyline Parkway near Enger Park Golf Course.
Hartley Park and Nature Center :
Duluth's Hartley Park features 660 acres of diverse forest, field, pond and wetland habitats. A Duluth city park, Hartley has many kilometers of skiing and hiking trails which include overlooks of Lake Superior from rocky outcrops. Hartley Park's trails are open to hiking, bicycling, cross country skiing, and dog walking Woodland Avenue approximately .5 mile past Oxford St. Access to trails is also available off of Hartley Road, which is the closest access to campus.
Hawk Ridge :
Funneled by westerly winds and the large expanse of Lake Superior, hawks, eagles and other species of birds fill the skies during spring and fall migration. Beyond the avian activity, you’ll enjoy one of the most commanding views of Lake Superior from 700 feet above the water of Hawk Ridge’s rocky hillside. Hawk Ridge is located along the eastern section of Duluth’s scenic Skyline Parkway: Woodland Avenue, to Jean Duluth Road (rt), to Gleenwood Avenue (rt), to Skyline Parkway (lt).
Park Point Beach and Brighton Beach :
These beaches offer two distinct shorelines for different types of activity. Park Point’s sand stretches out seven miles and is perfect for swimming, wading or tanning, while the shore Brighton Beach is rugged and rocky. Both beaches are great for watching the waves crash in, and both offer picnic tables and grills. Access Park Point Beach across the Ariel Lift Bridge at 5000 Minnesota Avenue. The entrance to Brighton Beach (also known as Kitchi Gammi Park) is on scenic highway 61 heading north from Duluth.
The Willard Munger State Trail:
A collection of multiple use trails between Duluth and Hinckley. It consists of interconnecting trails offering hiking, bicycling, in-line skating and snowmobiling. Trail head: Grand Avenue and 75 th Ave West.http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_trails/willard_munger/index.html

| Trails measured in kilometers are groomed ski trails in winter months that are also open to hiking in non-ski seasons. A Minnesota Ski Pass is required on all city ski trails during the ski season.
