| Jensena came from Norway with her husband Peter Mork (Peder Ingebretsen Mørch). Here is an excerpt from an article written about their lives in Wisconsin. In her later years, Jensena lived with her daughter & son-in-law, Emma & Gilbert Nelson. She refused to speak English so her grandchildren learned to speak fluent Norwegian from her. | |
Here is a record of Jensena & Emma's departure from Norway May 6, 1870. "They left Oslo May 6. 1870 for New York onboard a vessel called Hero. Generally it took them across the North Sea to the east coast of England where they would have crossed the country and continued on a boat from Liverpool or some other place on the west coast of England. The ticket was paid in the US, probably by Peter." -S. Botterud- |

Here are Peter's records. "He left May 1, 1869, i.e. one year earlier onboard Ecko destined for Sheboygan, WI." -S. Botterud- |

Here are the records from the in 1865 census at Nittedal. "As you can see, she is borne in Nittedal, while he is borne in Jevnaker, the neighbouring commune. His profession was tennant farmer without land and floater of timber, which could well achieve work when arriving in the forrests of Wisconsin. His father's name was Ingebret, while hers was Peder. Karine was their nanny (at only 10)." -S. Botterud- |
