Welcome to EdSe 4400: Professional Portfolio Development

Required Text:

How to Develop a Professional Portfolio: A Manual for Teachers by Campbell, Cignetti, Melenyzer, Nettles and Wyman.

Required Technology:

Internet access for creating your electronic portfolio and contributing to Web X discussions.

Use of a scanner for uploading repository artifacts in e-portfolio.

Course Description:

Professional development for Secondary Education majors will occur through documentation, reflection, synthesis of learning as related to standards. Development of process and product portfolios will occur. Candidates will dialog and reflect relative to emergent learning.

Course Overview:

In this course, you will be asked to synthesize your preparation for teaching in order to prepare to apply for positions as professional educators. You will be expected to create a repository for evidence against the INTASC Standards, create appropriate documentation for application, and demonstrate understanding of state and federal regulations in order to be prepared for public employment, and to reflect and demonstrate competence against the Conceptual Frameworks of the Department of Education at UMD.
