Library/Bookstore Field Research Project

Task: Visit the library or bookstore. Examine a variety of children's books (don't limit yourself just to the English language section -- even though you may not understand all the text in the Swedish books, you will still be able to analyze much of the content by the pictures). If you would like to and are able to, where appropriate take photographs (of book pages) to insert into your analysis in places where pictures will help you describe and explain your findings.

Analysis guiding questions Possible points Points Earned
1. Examine a minimum of 10 books. Create a table/chart that examines issues such as gender/stereotypic roles; which characters are involved in exciting plots; do male characters outnumber female characters? (hint: these could be the headings of your table/chart.
