Centered around an Anishinaabe world view, the philosophy, course work, and Masters research projects are related to the health, well-being, history, culture, and education of Native peoples. In addition, in keeping with this philosophy, elective courses in Ojibwe language are key to this program.
Naadamaadiwin - Tribal Special Education Licensure Program Beginning Fall 2008!
Are you interested in becoming a special education teacher? A two year cooperative special education post-baccalaureate licensure program in emotional behavioral disorders and learning disabilities, with a tribal focus, will begin Fall 2008. The hybrid online program will be offered through Augsburg College (Minneapolis) and University of Minnesota Duluth.

Beginning Fall 2008, the University of Minnesota Duluth and Augsburg College will offer a post-baccalaureate special education license with a focus on tribal communities and learning styles. This 2-year program in emotional behavioral disorders and learning disabilities is ideal for teachers seeking licensure in this area or for other professionals interested in an initial special education license focused on the unique needs of American Indian learners.

UMD´s Tom Peacock and co–author Marlene Wisuri have been awarded first place for their 2006 book, The Four Hills Of Life at the 2007 Independent Publisher Book Awards. The book uses an Ojibwe perspective in telling the story about the path we walk through the seasons of life.
