EXPECTATIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES OF FACULTY

Faculty members will teach two or three classes during their semester of residence. Part of the success of the program requires the active involvement of semester faculty in all aspects of the program. The faculty will meet with and advise students. The faculty will post and maintain office hours to meet normal and special needs of the students, typically at least four hours per week spread out over three or four days. The faculty will assist the director as needed. The faculty are expected to participate actively and assist the director in all program organized field trips. Semester faculty are expected to arrive and depart Birmingham to meet teaching and exam schedules as established by the program.

Transportation and Arrival in Birmingham
Faculty members are responsible for arranging their own transportation to Birmingham. It is most convenient to fly directly into Birmingham International Airport. However, there is public transportation available from the London airports to Birmingham. On arrival in Birmingham, there are taxis or public transportation to take you to the campus or the flats. Given the luggage you will have, we recommend the taxi (cost about £20.) For immigration purposes, when you arrive in England, you will need your passport plus a letter which identifies you as a faculty member in the program and a letter confirming your status as a visiting lecturer at the University of Birmingham. The International Program office will provide you with these letters. You will also will need a visit visa to the United Kingdom. Please read the section on Visa Information.
