PROGRAM DETAILS
Financial Aid
Students eligible for financial aid can apply their
financial aid to the cost of the programme.
Students are encouraged to take care of all financial
aid details BEFORE departure.
Financial aid transactions can be monitored by accessing
http://www.d.umn.edu/register.
Students are encouraged to set up a direct deposit
on line; surplus financial aid funds are deposited
automatically into the student’s designated
checking or savings account. Otherwise students should
verify that their mailing address on the system is
an address where they wish a surplus check sent to.
Though the UMD financial aid office plans on almost
all aid and student loans to be applied directly to
a student’s account, some forms of loans and
scholarships are issued only in hard copy. Financial
aid will make arrangements with Maria Vuldjeva who
will collect and send them to the England programme
office for signature. The programme director will
return the endorsed checks to the International Education
Office for deposit into the respective student’s
accounts receivable account.
Payment for the Programme
The cost of the 2005-2006 Programme is $15,895. Students
initially make a $350 deposit towards programme payment.
The next deposit of $500 is due June 15, 2005, with
the total remaining balance due of $15,045.
We expect the following payment arrangements to be
in effect for the 2005-2006 Programme: fall semester
$8,937.00, spring semester $6,108.00. Students can
elect to pay each term amount in full or in installments.
In addition, each semester students will be charged
the UMD Internet Access fee for maintenance of their
e-mail accounts (approximately $65) and the Orientation
to Foreign Studies and Study Abroad Synthesis course
fees (approximately $250 each). Students can elect
to pay each term amount in full or in installments.
The University of Minnesota is now on electronic billing
and payment of student account bills. Electronic billing
is the official means of generating bills to all University
students. Payment can either be done electronically,
through the mail, or in person. The electronic billing
and payment system will automatically send an e-mail
notification to the student’s UMD e-mail address
when the bill is ready to be viewed online. Students
will need their University Internet i.d. and password
to login to the University pay system. Authorized
electronic payers will need to use the login name
and password provided by the student.
Payment to this account by anyone other than the
student will be accepted by the University in the
name of the student. However, any refund due to withdrawal
or overpayments will be made directly to the student.
University policy: an individual who has outstanding
indebtedness to the University shall not be allowed
to register, receive a transcript or records or receive
certification of academic records, receipt of degrees
or graduation. Once logged into UM Pay, students can:
All charges and payments can be viewed 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week from anywhere in the world via
the Internet.
The minimum payment is offered on only the first
billing statement of each term. The student qualifies
for the installment payment plan if they pay any amount
between the minimum and the full balance on their
billing statement. There is a fee charged for each
installment.
If a payment arrives after the due date, a late fee
is charged, the installment plan will not be implemented,
and the student will be billed for the full amount
due.
If a payment is mailed, allow sufficient time for
it to reach the cashier’s office by the due
date listed. Your cancelled check will serve as your
receipt. Payments can also be made in person at the
cashier’s window in the Darland Administration
Building during business hours or dropped off at the
cashier’s drop box. Drop box payments are picked
up at 8:00 a.m. Monday - Friday and credited to the
current day. Electronic payments submitted by 5:00
p.m. Central Standard Time are processed the same
day.
For more information on payment, billing dates or
to log into the UMD Pay system go to Student
Accounts Receivable.
