Places to Go
Selly Oak is near Manor House and has lots of fun restaurants
ranging from traditional fish and chips to the ever-popular Balti. As for night life, some students enjoy hanging
out at the Selly Sausage and eating pancakes. Others find themselves more at home at the Bristol Pear, the Goose at
the O.V.T., and ...the soak. Travelling further, main campus offers Gun Barrels, popular for food and drink, as well
as Joe's--the main pub in the student guild. City Centre offers endless possibilites for a night out. Fashionable
restaurants, pubs, and clubs abound and can keep you dancing into the early morning. A plethora of taxis ranks are available, servicing those who can no longer find the bus.
Any student on the programme will tell you how the Bristol Road travels a straight line down
our heart, kept alive and pulsing with buses 61, 62, and 63. There are other places to be explored and other buses to be taken,
but convenience plays a deadly game with the heart.
Those looking for the theatre need to travel no further than city centre. Near the Bullring,
Odeon offers several screens of recent movies at slightly exorbiant prices. Travelling farther into the centre, down Broad
Street and past Symphony Hall, one can find haven in the Hard Rock Cafe or UGC Cinemas, offering numerous screens at far more
reasonable prices.
