Course Description: This course provides an overview of leadership through a theoretical perspective. Learners will begin to see the role and styles of leadership in relation to the culture of schools and communities.

Instructional Strategies

The following instructional strategies and formats will be used this semester:

A variety of assignments and class activities will incorporate the following instructional strategies: reflection and self-assessment, small and large group discussion and problem solving, library and Internet research activities, technology related assignments, analysis of school and community organizations and leadership styles, text and Internet reading as assigned, and weekly web-based (asynchronous) threaded discussions and online class activities (approximately 20-25 hours per week).

 

Diversity

This semester's coursework will incorporate an analysis of inclusion and diversity issues in leadership and in the development of an understanding of the value and importance of diversity and cultural sensitivity. In addition, online threaded discussions will emphasize the importance and practice of eliciting and understanding diverse experiences, opinions, and insights.
