2005-Present    Coordinator, Unified Early Childhood Studies Program, University of MN Duluth, Duluth, MN

Responsibilities include overall coordination of early childhood studies program, consult department head on staffing decisions, representation on the education department's leadership council, prepare documents (and alignment) with BOT accreditation, coordination of faculty meetings and retreats, program development, including outreach and initiation of articulation agreements. Program advisement to incoming/transfer students, work with student affairs on curricular and advisement issues, and mentoring of new faculty. Participate with the faculty team in completing curriculum and course proposals/revisions, represent the UECH program at CACTE, MNAECTE and the UECH Advisory Council.

Responsibilities included participation in planning for adult component of literacy program with immigrant/refugee families, conduct adult literacy/parenting class, and conduct home visits, collaboration with community partners and program team.

Responsibilities included facilitation of parent education groups within a variety of early childhood family education classroom settings, including intensive ECFE child abuse prevention initiative (mixed-age) funded through the Children's Trust Fund, ECFE groups with parents and infants (0-9 mo), Family Literacy Collaboration, Amazing Newborns hospital program, Kindergarten Connection, and parents of middle school children.

Responsibilities included consultation to boards of directors of non-profit human service agencies including application(s) for 501(c) 3, strategic planning, development of fiscal and human resource policies, organizational and personnel evaluation planning, and grant writing and fundraising.

 

 

1989 - 1993    Psychiatric Therapist, Miller-Dwan Medical Center , Duluth , MN

 

Responsibilities included facilitation of family assessments, abuse assessment of children 4-17, facilitate play therapy sessions (both group and 1:1) with children ages 4-12, facilitate short-term verbal therapy with adolescents, conduct sexuality education classes, and participate in team planning with physicians.

 

 

1986 - 1990   Director, Sexual Assault Program of Northern St. Louis Co., Virginia , MN

 

Responsible for overall management of non-profit organization, including financial, personnel, grant writing, evaluation, professional and community training on issues related to sexual violence. Conduct volunteer advocate training, public speakers bureau training, and supervise advocates. Facilitate counseling groups for victims of sexual assault, including adult women, adolescent girls, parents of victimized children, girls 9-12, girls 4-8, boys 4-8, and boys 9-12.

•  The use of a service learning model and online asynchronous dialogue to promote reflection, critical thinking, and cultural competence in early childhood studies students . Journal of College Teaching & Learning (TLC) Fall, 2005 . ( Editors employ a double blind refereed reviewing process for the TLC Journal .  The  TLC Journal is listed in the Science Directory and has been accepted for listing in Cabell's Directory .  The TLC Journal rating is currently in the on-line version of Cabell's Directory and will be in the next printing of the hardcopy version. The overall acceptance rate is11% to 20%).

•  Assessment and Intervention Using the Perspective of Four Organizational Frames  in the Journal of Business & Economics Research (JBER) Fall, 2006.  (The JBER is listed in Cabell's Directories of Publishing Opportunities in Business & Economics.
