The Adventures of Ruby doo Back to Lea's home page

With the death of Tonka, I thought I didn't want to deal with another dog. but with some coaxing I am bringing a dog into the household of 4 cats. It will be interesting to see how well they adjust to each other. RUBY doo as I call her is a GERMAN SHEPARD & HUSKY MIX is what I am thinking. My sister took her in when she was a young pup and had PARVO VIRUS.

Please VACINATE your dogs and cats. Help is available through Animal Allies or they know who can help if you are short on cash.

My sister nursed her back to health and RUBY has proven to benefit by being a robust & frisky dog. I had surgery on my ankle in January, so I am on the mend, 6 months full recovery. My sister is doing beginning training with her the first round of it. When the ankle is healed I will be the rightful owner and trainer of her then.

Yep, April is about Over
So the yard looks like hello operator and with my ankle, it will get done bit by bit. It was funny to see the other cats scatter when Ruby came on the scene. My sister worked late so I went and picked up my pal Ruby doo. Bella, my sisters large white shepard looking dog stayed home. Ruby is coming along rather nicely in class, curious as most pups are. She is around one year old now my sister was saying. Nice dog. Feb,March, April May, June, July will be 6 months and my ankle should be as good as new, at least that is what I am shooting for. Going to be a bit different having an older dog. Ruby will be with my sister until she is done with basic dog training. Then it will be my turn to have Ruby.

I go to dog training & watch & enjoy the show. The little rascals, big & small are learning to behave. Or should I say the owners are learning how to be the boss now. Some of the little dogs sure have big mouths. The kind of big dog syndrome. The little squirts will bark and hide. They say dogs like a routine. Keeping it simple and direct works well. Also, Dogs don't know the difference from your old slipper and your expensive Italian leather loafers. So be careful what you give your dog to chew on. PREETYY QUIET AT HOME. Cats are enjoying the freedom to roam all over without a dog running them over or chasing them around. But nothing beats a cold nose of a dog on your arm, or just a four legged beast to take a walk with. Summer is coming soon and it will be great to have a barker in the house.

July 2007
Many things have happened between the last time I wrote in this page. My daughter dropped off her rather Great Dane puppy for me to care for. They are living in apartments and moving. How many times as parents we tell our kids don't and they do. So Bobi (Bowbee) is living with me. He reminds me of Tonka. He is Black and has a good personality. Gets along with Millie, Tonka's cat. I can't handle 2 dogs, so Ruby will stay with my sister.

I am Ruby hear me roar with cats scattering around the floor. I love to chew on big knuckle bones, go for walks, and play with my pal BELLA. I am hearing my owner, telling someone she is going to give me to her sister. Oh I met her sister, the writer of this page. She likes to see me and doesn't mind too much when I jump on her. I need to learn some new tricks. The cats hide and one likes to bat me on the nose and I stay away from that one. I also hear my owner say that you will be learning to be a good girl real soon.

April is about gone
On April 23rd, I met my new roommates, Rascal, Meanie, Millie and Princess. Millie is the nice little cat. When the new lady opened the door to let me in Millie greeted me, nose to nose, not even a hiss out of her. I think I am in love already, Millie followed me around the house and when we went upstairs there were 3 other cats who sounded like the 3 tenors, hissing in unison as I walked into the sewing room. I just looked at them and so did Millie and we went back downstairs. I think I am going to like it living here with the new lady and her cats.

I was at dog training on Monday night and boy are there a lot of other puppies and dogs in class. They are squeelers and sniffers, whinners and cryers; but we are all in it together. I am doing pretty good I think. I can sit, lay down and stay for a bit now. I just want to get up and start jumping around, but I won't get a treat if I do. We walk and sit, walk and sit and lay down, and walk. I am tired and glad to go home after it is over.

Seems like every time I am learning something new it gets a bit more easier. I sit, I get a treat. I lay down, I get a treat, Yahoo I like this whole treat business. The other dogs at class are going around in a circle with me walking, sitting and staying put. Some do real good, some not so good. But we are all learning new tricks for treats and nice pats and pets. I love it, I do. The new lady comes and watches me, gives me a big how do you do too. I think I will like living with her sometime pretty soon.

Looks like I am not going anywhere for now. In a way I am glad. I like Bella and the cats.
