DEFINING POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT (2nd [WWW] EDITION)
Fifteen years of any project generate more debts than can be repaid short of writing another book. Nevertheless, I must thank Professors Roy Feldman, Frederick W. Frey, the late Everett Hagen, the late Lawrence Kohlberg, and Lucian Pye for inspiring and educating this stubborn ex-mathematician. I also thank my parents and Professors Karen Feste, Beth Lau, and Steve Ropp for their support during a long and difficult labor. Professors Bill Eamon and Steve Seidman provided valuable information and incredulity. Professor Zagorka Golubovic provided intelligent criticism of my reading of Marx. Professor Craig Grau and Mr. Guntram Werther gave this work the benefit of their close, intelligent scrutiny. I deeply appreciate the professional assistance of Lynne Rienner and her capable staff. Of course, the weaknesses and errors remain my responsibility.
In my Preface to the first edition I neglected to thank Ms. Gia Hamilton, who did a masterful job copy-editing my prose. Sorry, Gia.
