SDO Calendar Events:

Design Camp
-registration is open until camp is full
-$150 student price

Fall Studio Tours
-Friday, Nov. 10
-we will tour several design firms in the Twin Cities

Blindsight
-theme will be picked by Janice Kmetz
-deadline for entries is Wednesday, Nov. 15

2nd Annual Student Design Competition
-co-sponsored by SDO and Kirby Program Board
-will be held in February
-WInning entries will be displayed in the Tweed

Official SDO Membership

$10 semester membership fee (deadline for payment is Wednesday, Oct. 18)
$15 late semester membership fee (if payment is made after Wednesday, Oct. 18)
$15 year-long membership

Other good stuff we talked about:

AIGA Membership
- $75 for a year-long membership
-Anyone who wants to should join! We only need about 10 people to become an official AIGA student group - we can then attend Portfolio 1 on 1

SDO's new "mentorship" program
-any upperclassmen or anyone that feels they are skilled in a particular area of graphic design can become a "mentor"
-you can sign up to be a mentor on your SDO Membership Registration Form
-on the SDO website, we will indicate that you are a mentor so that
underclassmen can contact you with questions or problems

SDO's graphic design services
-we are offering our design services to other departments and organizations on campus
-posters, flyers, invitations, etc.
-members are encouraged to participate in designing for these clients!

Art and Design Lecture Series
-various artists and designers come to speak in the Tweed at UMD
-a great way to see what professionals are doing in their fields right now!
-see the posters around campus for more info.

Student Work section on SDO website
-if you are an official member of SDO and would like to have your work posted on the website, email your files to our Webmaster, Paul Nelson, at nels2385@d.umn.edu
-document sizes should be no more than 600 x 600 pixels
