About the Film Festival

The Annual Frozen Yeti Film Festival is a showcase of UMD students and their self produced films. Films are viewed and voted upon by a general student audience. The top films in each of the three categories will be awarded a prize and a grand prize will be offered to the Best of Show.

Eligibility

As always, the Film Fest is open to all UMD students and is free.

Categories

Narrative: Category for movies with focus on the story of the film. Let the plot and character reign.
Music Video: Emotion is best felt through music. The song does not need to be an original.
Indie Film: For everything not included in the other categories. Make it creative and make it rock!

Submissions

All submissions are free and must be on a playable DVD. No submissions can be longer than 15 minutes. Submissions should include a brief description to be included in the program prior to screening.
Films can be submitted in the Computer Corner, located in the Bookstore starting on January 16th and ending on February 17th.

Judging

All of the films that will be shown are to be selected by a student committee. The selected winners will have their films shown to the public on two different nights. Both nights the students will vote for their favorite film in each category. The top three films in each category will be judged by a faculty panel that will make the final decisions.

Show Times and Awards Ceremony

The films will be shown on Monday, February 19th and Tuesday the 20th in Chem 200 at 7 PM. The Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday the 22nd at 7 PM in Chem 200. During this Ceremony, the winning films will be announced and shown again to a general audience.

Prizes

Prizes this year are still to be determined. Prizes from last year included an iPod Nano for winners of each category, while Best in Show received a digital video camera. iPod Shuffles were also given away each night to the audience.
