Letter to Students:
Dear students,
Have you ever wished you could have your very own faculty mentor? Some
one in your college or major who would help you figure out college? To
help you connect with the University community and understand what the
University expects from you? We think it's a great idea; how about
you?
DS&R would like to offer this to students in the very near future. We
see it as a win-win: You and your faculty mentor would meet on a
regular basis. You will learn more about the complexities of the
academic experience at UMD - professors, majors, careers, and other
available support. The faculty mentor will learn more about disability
issues and student concerns to help them become better teachers.
What do you think? Is there a need for program like this at UMD? Would
you be interested in participating in it? What concerns do you have
a faculty mentoring program?
If you think there is a need for a faculty mentoring program and you
like to participate, please reply to me - pcragun@umn.edu. Give us your
name and major, and we will keep you informed about this new venture.
Or if you don't think this is a great idea, send us your concerns.
