As General Disability Services Coordinator, I work with numerous students with physical, psychological, visual, and systemic impairments on campus. Because UMD is a barrier free campus many students with physical disabilities find they enjoy the interconnected buildings along with the so-called 'able-bodied students. Students don't have to worry about weather conditions and Duluth is well-known for its weather.

I am working with the University of Washington on a grant project called AccessCollege. We are developing materials to implement a comprehensive professional development program for college staff and administrators. Our hopes are that post-secondary staff and administrators will be better prepared to fully include and welcome students with disabilities on their campuses. Responding to the diverse content and scheduling needs of staff and administration, the AccessCollege project is writing a book with suggestions and examples of how to make your campus more welcoming. We are working to promote Universal Design in all aspects of the college environment..
