Call to order

Approval of minutes as distributed from 10/19/04

New business
1. Introductions of new member from SFA, Jon Berry.
2. Technology Czar letter and response from Linda Deneen
a. The letter seemed to be misunderstood - many people are doing small parts of the job and the idea, which still stands, is to appoint one person to oversee the adaptive technology area for the entire campus
b. A meeting with Linda Deneen may be warranted - to include Georgia, Penny, Bill Sozansky
c. Human Resources could also be included in assistive technology plans as the issues apply to staff and faculty
d. Discussion on the comparative structures of serving employees with disabilities between the Twin Cities campus and Duluth campus
i. At UMTC, Disability Services serves both students and employees - and serve as a resource to all the coordinate campuses
ii. At UMD, Disability Services serves students and employees are served by Human Resources
e. Current equipment may be underutilized as a result of the lack of continuity in service provision
f. Suggested to include Greg Fox in the discussion

Any items members present to report/discuss
1. Follow up on student who needed assistance in graduate studies - she is still working on her application
2. Jon Berry - discussion on physical accommodations in physically active/demanding courses (art, chemistry, theatre)...offer to have DSR present information at a department meeting, instructors need to consider what are the essential standards of the course

1. Vacancies on commission - students and CLA
a. Student representatives are:
i. Elee Vang (new)
ii. Maria Campanero (continuing)

2. Report on IDS workshop on Designing Accessible Websites (10/20, 9-11 AM)

3. Roger's update of our webpage. Ideas for redesign webpage.

4. The UMD Commission on Women's Gallery of Grants will sponsor a panel discussion on women in the military - 4-6 Library Rotunda Dec 7
