of Students with Disabilities
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitaion Act are civil ights laws. The intent of these laws is to:
- Prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities.
- Ensure access to all University courses, programs, services, and employment.
Access to all University courses, programs, services, and employment includes, but is not limited to:
- Information, including textbooks, in accessible formats
- Reasonable accommodations to provide equal opportunity
- Auxiliary aids and assistive technology
- Assistance from Disability Resources in removing physical, academic, and attitudinal barriers
- Appropriate career counseling, (not toward restrictive career objectives)
- Freedom from discrimination or retaliatory discrimination due to a disability
- Appropriate confidentiality of disability-related information
