The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitaion Act are civil ights laws. The intent of these laws is to:

  • Prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities.
  • Ensure access to all University courses, programs, services, and employment.

Access to all University courses, programs, services, and employment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Information, including textbooks, in accessible formats
  • Reasonable accommodations to provide equal opportunity
  • Auxiliary aids and assistive technology
  • Assistance from Disability Resources in removing physical, academic, and attitudinal barriers
  • Appropriate career counseling, (not toward restrictive career objectives)
  • Freedom from discrimination or retaliatory discrimination due to a disability
  • Appropriate confidentiality of disability-related information
