Process for Accommodated Testing in Fall 2009!
New!
DR encourages faculty to take an active role in providing accommmodated testing for students with disabilities. Accommodating students within your department is often the best, providing the student's disability needs are met. When this is not possible, students with disabilities will be accommodated in Disability Resources.
The procedures for accommodated testing in DR have changed, effective Fall 09.
1. Beginning Fall 09, students eligible for disability accommodations will bring their professors a letter of accommodation (LOA) along with their Test Accommoation Request Form Link. This letter will outline the accommodations appropriate for that student and why. The student will have completed the top portion of the Test Accommodation Request Form.
2. The lower portion is to be completed and signed by faculty. A change from previous years is that the professor will check the accommodations, provide test dates, the amount of time the class is allotted for each exam, and all materials allowed. The professor also indicates how the exam will be delivered to DR and returned to the professor and signs it. The student is responsible for returning the Test Accommodation Request Form to DR.
3. The LOA will also state the appropriate per cent of additional time. Professors will have that information should they decide to accommodate the exam within the department. In these cases, the Test Accommodation Request Form need not be returned to DR.
4. Please note that all of the student's disability-related information in the LOA is confidential. Do not share it with other faculty or students.
5. Student will be instructed to come to office hours or to make an appointment to ensure enough time and privacy for this discussion.
