The following list gives examples of information which will be described in the self-study report and in other materials (e.g., Bulletin, Campus Data Book, policies relating to faculty, staff, and students) made available to North Central. Existing sources of information will be used where possible. What descriptive information related directly to students, staff, and faculty do you think it is important to include in the self-study report itself?
The following questions focus on evaluation and are the major responsibility of this subcommittee. The goal is to identify strengths and weaknesses (areas of concern) in how the campus functions. The following should be considered about the questions:
1. Are number, distribution, and training of faculty and staff adequate to fulfill mission?
2. Are policies and procedures for recruitment, evaluation, and promotion of faculty effective? For staff?
3. Are there adequate opportunities for professional development of faculty and staff? Are the policies and procedures pertaining to professional development opportunities clear?
4. Are admission policies related to campus mission? Effective in recruiting kinds of students desired?
5. Do the service activities of faculty/staff contribute the UMD's effectiveness?
6. Is there a commitment to and support for scholarly and creative activity by faculty? Students? Is there support for freedom of inquiry?
7. Are there effective (i.e., consistency between policy and practice) procedures related to equity of treatment, nondiscrimination, and other means of enhancing access to education and the building of a diverse educational community?
