Requirements for Admission to UMD

A Freshman has completed or will complete a high school diploma, or has obtained a GED. In addition, the individual has attempted fewer than 26 semester (39 quarter) credits at a post-secondary institution. If a student is graduating from high school and has less than 26 semester credits, she/he will be considered a New Entering Freshman, allowing the student to be considered for merit scholarships and participation in Academic Orientation.

A Transfer, or New Advanced Standing student has attempted at least 26 college semester (39 quarter) credits, of baccalaureate level course work. Information on registering for classes can be found here:
