UMD Health Services is a nationally accredited family practice clinic. It is dedicated to providing quality health care, counseling and education aimed toward young adults and to the unique needs of college students. Health Services provides complete outpatient medical services including care of acute illnesses and injuries, general physical exams, gynecological exams, and sports medicine. The Student Service Fee covers exams. Laboratory, X-ray, minor surgery services and procedures may be billed to the patient's health insurance. Medications are available at a reasonable cost for students. MasterCard, Visa, and Discover credit cards and debit cards are accepted. Physicians, registered nurses, and nurse practitioners are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (September - May) and Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (June - August). After hours and weekends, the physicians at St. Luke's and St. Mary's Hospitals, or urgent care at the student's expense, handle emergencies. Counseling services are available free of charge. Counseling services include individual and group counseling for issues such as adjustment difficulties, chemical abuse, stress, eating disorders, sexuality, depression, and relationship difficulties. Counselors provide opportunities for students to become knowledgeable in caring for their emotional and physical well-being. All medical and counseling records are confidential, considered private and sensitive information, and will not be released to anyone without the written or verbal consent of the patient. Fun Fact:
