The Marshall Performing Arts Center (MPAC) contains two theatres (the main stage theatre that seats 600, and the Dudley Experimental Theatre), a dance studio, technical facilities, classrooms, and rehearsal spaces. It is used for campus events such as touring performances, lectures and receptions as well as UMD's own theatre. During the academic year, the department of theatre produces five major theatrical productions, a dance concert, and several studio productions. Participation in University theatre productions is open to all UMD students regardless of academic majors, vocational interests or previous experience. Opportunities are available to audition in all aspects of performance. Back stage work (costumes, lighting, scenery, box office, and running crew) is available to interested students. Tickets are generally $6 for students and $12 for non-students.
