The UMD Civil Engineering program has been developed to address the regional as well as national needs for qualified civil engineers, who are essential for planning, design, construction, maintenance, operations and management of the critical infrastructure system in our society, such as roads, bridges, airports, waste water treatment systems, etc.
The new Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) program will focus on the education, training and advanced research on the following areas in civil engineering:
- Structural Engineering
- Water Resources Engineering
- Transportation Engineering
- Geotechnical/Mining Engineering
The building opened in July 2010. The new building includes multi-purpose classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, and research facilities.
