Here are some important next steps…
Step 1: Confirm your Enrollment
Sign-up for Advisement & Registration (A&R). This is when you become an official UMD student – you'll leave campus with your college ID and fall semester schedule in hand!
Step 2: Housing
Submit your housing application. Applications for the following fall are available beginning February 1st. We start sending information about on-campus housing in late-January. For guaranteed placement, housing contracts must be postmarked by May 1st.
Step 3: FAFSA
After 2015 taxes are complete, file online at fafsa.ed.gov and have the information sent to UMD (federal school code: 002388).
Step 4: Admitted Student Days (optional)
An Admitted Student Day will give you additional perspective into what it's like to be a Bulldog. Admitted Student Days are scheduled on select Fridays in January, February & March.
Step 5: Join the official class of 2020 Facebook group
When you join the Official Class of 2020 Facebook page you'll be able to connect with incoming students and get assistance from student leaders on campus. Often duplicated the official Facebook page is less on spam and more on the meat & potatoes you care about.
Step 6: College Transcripts (if applicable)
Submit official transcripts for any college courses you've taken. Once all grades are posted, submit an official transcript to UMD Admissions. We'll take it from there to help you know how it transfers.
Step 7: High School Transcripts
Send your final high school transcripts to the Office of Admissions by July 1st.
Step 8: Education Modules
To help new freshmen get ready for their first semester in Duluth, UMD requires the completion of three online educational modules. The modules cover a number of important topics, and they help UMD meet a Minnesota state law for incoming college students. Be sure to watch for an email with instructions in late July!
Step 9: Bulldog Welcome Week
Attend Bulldog Welcome Week. Required for all freshmen, this crash course in getting connected kicks off with move-in day on August 23rd. Welcome week events start August 24th and continue through the start of classes on August 29th.
December 2015 — Admitted students can begin registering for Advisement & Registration.
December 15, 2015 — Application deadline for scholarship consideration.
January 2015 — Submit your FAFSA after completing your 2015 taxes.
January, February & March 2016 — Attend an Admitted Student Day (optional).
February 1, 2016 — Submit your application for on-campus housing.
March - April 2016 — Estimated Financial Aid Award Notices (EFAAN) are sent out to freshmen students for Fall 2016.
May 1, 2016 — National College Decision Day. Recommended deadline to submit on-campus housing application and register for Advisement & Registration (A&R).
Summer 2016 — Attend your Advisement & Registration session.
August 23, 2016 — Move-in day for incoming freshmen.
August 24 - August 28, 2016 — Bulldog Welcome Week for new students.
August 29, 2016 — Classes begin!
