Where in the World?

 Todd Arvidson, class of 90, is chief of combat readiness training and instructor navigator for NATO AWACS in Germany. He is enjoying working with crews from 13 different countries and living with his wife in Europe. 

 Rachel Bodeen (Mitton), class of 2000, is assigned to the nursing unit at Elmendorf AFB AK. She and husband, Lance, are enjoying the beautiful Alaskan scenery, fishing for salmon and halibut, skijouring (dog-pulled skiing), and moose hunting.

 Gene Burbey, Det 930 class of 59, retired twice, once from the Air Force in 81 as 06, and again from Rockwell International where he was vice president, North American Aircraft Division. He and wife, Sandy, live in Dayton OH, and their welcome mat is always out for those who drive through “fly over country”.

 Amy Grenier (Blakeley), class of 2000, was at Vandenberg AFB CA as a Logistics Plans Officer. She was deployed for three months to the Middle East for AEF 3/4. She and her husband, Phil, were married in Hawaii, and are now at Barksdale AFB, LA.

 Jon Hauser, class of 92, was at Grand Forks AFB as missile crew commander/instructor, then Tinker AFB, OK, deploying to Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Europe. He flew in Operations Desert Fox and Allied Force.  Now at Elmendorf AFB, AK, he is a private pilot, planning on leaving active duty to work with a national guard unit in aviation. Lives with his labrador retriever “Smokey”. 

 Bette Kalohi (MacTaggart), class of 75, retired in 99 after 11 years in Air Traffic Control/PA and 10 years in Reserves (Disaster Prep/PA). She is now a DOD civilian, Chief, Community Relations, 15th Air Base Wing, Hickam AFB, HI, living with husband, Walter.

 Jim “Koon” Kuehn, class of 90, is an ADO for the 512th Rescue Sq (HH-60), Kirtland AFB NM. He and his wife, Cindi (UMD grad) have three daughters, Jordan, Stephanie, and Madison.

 John Lund, class of 55, joined “Mavericks”, flying T-33 tracking missions in Germany. He flew T-bird, T-39, B-52 at Vandenberg, SAC, Westover, Vietnam (169 combat missions), was Chief, Threats Div, HQ SAC, evaluating USSR/Chinese airborne/missile threats, and Intel Chief, Nakon Phnom, Thailand. He retired in 77, worked at Rice Univ (Biochem), and found a hardwood flooring company in Texas.  

 Mike “Mac” McFarland, class of 69, settled in Maryland in 98, retiring after commanding a Sq, two Groups, Wing, and a Joint organization. Holly and Mac provide support to Howard County government. He is Director at SAIC and Holly’s hobby is being a master gardener. They enjoy visits from granddaughter Bree, with parents Josh (class of 96) and Heather (McFarland, class of 97) Meyer.

 Richard Mohnsen, Det 930 class of 67, married Angel Flight member and Military Ball Queen, Audrey Wold. They live in New Richmond, WI.

 Maggie Moore, class of 95, is an instructor navigator at Little Rock AFB, AR. In her spare time, she is involved in adventure racing, participating in the Armed Forces Eco-Challenge and the Military Wilderness Challenge—with great results! 

 Renee Niskanen, class of 2001, is a logistics readiness officer at Elmendorf AFB, AK. She has been TDY to Korea, Texas, Alabama, and Washington. She, husband Paul and son Tyler love Alaska, and are enjoying being foster family to a one-year old boy.

 Patricia Refsdal (Mankowski), class of 75, was a career-long aircraft maintenance officer in the AF Reserves. She was recalled to active duty in 2001 for Ops NOBLE EAGLE AND ENDURING FREEDOM. She was Commander, 714 Aircraft Generation Squadron, McGuire AFB, NJ, now Asst Logistics Director, 22nd AF, Dobbins AFB. She is looking forward to returning to her family in New Jersey.

 Steven Rizzo, cadre 89-93, from Det 420 moved to Altus, OK, as KC-135 nav instructor, and ATS Configuration and Data Mgr. In 2001 re-entered active duty as T-6 Ground-Based Training Program Mgr,Randolph AFB, TX, where he “is very proud and happy to be serving his country again.” He and Suzi built a home in San Antonio, and daughters, Kimberly and Jennifer, are at college. It’s a small world:  Juan Torres, cadre 90-93, is “next door”, DOF at Randolph!

 Paul Rotter, class of 90, was with 552 Operations Support Squadron at Tinker AFB, OK. He is currently assigned to Kirtland AFB, NM.

 Scott Selchert, class of 94, is an operations officer at Dover AFB, DE. He has been deployed to several locations in the Middle East.

 Marcy Steinke-Fike, class of 85, was a nurse at Keesler AFB until 91, then attended UPT at Williams AFB. She was a C-130 instructor pilot at Ramstein AB, Germany until 2001, flying missions in Sarajevo, Bosnia, Kosovo, numerous African countries for real world humanitarian relief and the Middle East. She is currently Ops Officer for 457 AS Andrews AFB.

 Pete Tschohl, class of 92, is at McConnell AFB, as a KC-135 pilot after Air Traffic Control at Tyndall and Luke AFB. He taught ROTC at Oregon State U before pilot training, is working on instructor upgrade, and hopes for an overseas tour. He lives with wife, Crystal, daughters Megan and Anja, expecting a third in May. He enjoys deer and pheasant hunting in Kansas.

 Andrew Ziehwein, class of 94, is a C-130 aircraft and flight commander for 61AS, Little Rock AFB, AR. He has been stationed in ID, OK, TX, and made trips to the desert, Europe, and the Balkans. He lives with his wife, Leanne, and children, Mark, Joshua, and Lauren.

 Andrew Zumbach, class of 98, spent three years at Nellis AFB as a logistics plans officer for the 99ABW. He is currently assigned to Tyndall AFB, FL on the 1 AF logistics staff as a planner, working on Operation Noble Eagle (homeland security from the air).
