Reengineering the Iron Range
|
UMD is offering an advanced engineering degree to residents of Minnesota’s Iron Range — the Iron Range/UMD Graduate Engineering Education Program. These upper division/graduate engineering courses are designed to meet the needs of unemployed professionals. The offerings are aimed at people interested in an engineering career as well as engineers who need to maintain a license, upgrade engineering skills, or broaden areas of employability.
Classes in the Master of Science in Engineering Management and a Master of Environment Health and Safety Degree are being held at the Mesabi Range Community and Technical College in Virginia, MN. Program organizers will offer 6-8 courses every academic year. Iron Range students will also have access to additional related courses offered on the UMD campus and to ITV and on-line courses.
The program is being coordinated through the UMD Swenson College of Science and Engineering in conjunction with the Arrowhead University Consortium, with financial support provided by the Iron Range Higher Education Committee.
Interested students can find an application and receive general information through the UMD Continuing Education website or by contacting the Swenson College of Science and Engineering Department in Duluth at 218-726-7506.
