Four Star General Bruce Carlson Receives UMD Distinguished Alumni Award

Four Star General Bruce Carlson was presented the UMD Distinguished Alumni Award at a dinner held in his honor while he visited the campus in November. General Carlson is a 1971 UMD graduate and a "Distinguished Graduate" of the UMD Air Force ROTC Program.   Read More Here

Labovitz School of Business and Economics Creates New Department of Marketing

The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) has announced the establishment of a new department, the Department of Marketing, beginning Summer 2006. Formerly a part of the Management Studies Department, the new division will be headed by Associate Professor Praveen Aggarwal. Marketing is the largest major at LSBE, growing rapidly from 68 majors in 1999, to 225 majors in the Fall 2006 semester.   Read More Here

Chancellor's Award for Distinguished Research 2006-07 Goes to Psychology Professor Randall Gordon

Randall Gordon, UMD Professor of Psychology, has been selected as the recipient of the Chancellor's Award for Distinguished Research for 2006-2007. The honor is given each year to recognize the research and scholarly contributions of a UMD faculty member, and to provide opportunities to present developing research to a broad audience.   Read More Here

Academy of Science and Engineering Honors Five

The College of Science and Engineering has announced the induction of five new members into its Academy of Science and Engineering. The inductees were honored for their outstanding work in the fields of biology, mathematics, geology and engineering. The Academy was established in 2002 to give public recognition to alumni and special friends of the UMD College of Science and Engineering, who have brought distinction to themselves through their participation, commitment, and leadership in their chosen profession. School of Fine Arts Holds First Annual Society of Prometheans Awards Event

The School of Fine Arts honored five outstanding individuals at its first annual Society of Prometheans Awards event held this fall. The program was hosted by Jack Bowman, Dean of the School of Fine Arts, and honored Chancellor Kathryn A. Martin, Beverly Goldfine, Dennis Lamkin, Dr. Robert Kase and James Doughan. The Society recognizes accomplished alumni and friends of UMD who have demonstrated success and passion in their chosen professions and contributed to the success of UMD School of Fine Arts programs.   Read More Here
