Lois and Jeno Paulucci Honored at Commencement May 16

Lois and Jeno Paulucci, well-known civic leaders, humanitarians and internationally recognized entrepreneurs, were honored during UMD Undergraduate Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, May 16 at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC). This was UMD’s largest commencement ever with 1,200 students and over 100 faculty members marching in the event. Total number of students receiving undergraduate degrees this academic year is 1,800.   Read More Here

Honors Program Celebrates Sixth Year - UMD Selected for Mortar Board National Honor Society

Begun in 2003, the UMD Honors Program has now proudly moved into its 6th year. Since that time, hundreds of high-achieving students from all colleges and disciplines at UMD have received the benefits of small all-honors classes with some of the most energetic and exciting professors on campus. Fostered by the Honors Program, UMD was selected as a chartered chapter of Mortar Board National Collegiate Honor Society in 2008-09, and the UMD Tau Delta Chapter inducted its first 22 members in April.   Read More Here

UMD Strives for Sustainability

Although the official UMD Bulldog colors are maroon and gold, there is a movement on campus toward “going green”. Sustainability has become a popular buzzword, but at UMD it is more than just talk. For many years UMD has been working to balance environmental impacts, economic realities, and the needs of the campus community. Professor Vickie Hansen Speaks at Graduate Commencement

UMD professor and distinguished geoscience researcher Vickie Hansen delivered the featured address at graduate commencement ceremonies May 14 in the Romano Gymnasium on the UMD campus. Advanced degrees were awarded to 170 students at the event. Total number of graduate degrees awarded from UMD this academic year was 225.   Read More Here
