About me

John Arthur is Professor of Sociology at University of Minnesota Duluth. John undertook his higher education studies in Ghana and in the United States and gained a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in 1988. He has a range of teaching and research interests including: African and Caribbean migrant and refugee communities; African Studies; race and ethnic relations; crime and justice. He is currently working on a monograph, to be published by Ashgate Publishing, on the Ghanaian experience of the African Diaspora. John is interested in contributing his specialist knowledge of Africa and the Caribbean to the development of the progressive and international program at the Alworth Institute.
