Visiting International Fellowship Opportunity in International Studies for scholars in the employment of the University of Birmingham, UK, the University of Wroclaw (Poland) and the University of Istanbul (Turkey.) The Fellowship is not available to members of other institutions.
Description of the International Fellowship at the Royal D. Alworth, Jr., Institute for International Studies.
The Fellowship is part of the process of internationalization of the academic experience at UMD and is to be held at the Alworth Institute. The Fellowship is for a period of up to four weeks. Academic areas of interest include international relations; international political and economic development; strategic studies and the development of the European Community.
The Fellow will be resident at the University of Minnesota Duluth for a period no greater than four weeks. Duties attached to the Fellowship include providing a series of at least three public lectures on the chosen topic; providing one professional seminar on a research topic relevant to the Fellowship; undertaking a number of class visits or related activities involving students and faculty; contributing entries to the web site on the chosen topics. The Fellow should be interested, throughout, in meeting faculty and students in the University of Minnesota Duluth.
The prospective Fellow must be able to communicate in English at a level adequate to the performance of the duties associated with the International Fellowship. The prospective Fellow must be able to use PowerPoint.
The Fellowship will come with accommodation or accommodation costs, tourist travel costs and an honorarium. The Fellows will purchase health cover for the four weeks from the scheme approved by the University. The Fellow will require a J1 visa.
The International Fellowship is a non-employee Visiting Scholar position and carries no commitment, direct or implied, for employment at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

To register an interest in the Fellowship, please complete the sections in the form below. Registration may or may not lead to a successful selection. The University reserves the right not to offer the Fellowship in any particular year if it deems that no suitable candidate has registered and been approved.
Registration is now open for April 2009. Registration must be received no later than Friday 12 th September 2008.
