Jorge Frascara is a designer and professor at the University of Alberta, Canada. His work has taken the various forms of illustration, film animation, advertising and graphic design. Currently, he is concentrating on research and development of visual communications for safety and social concerns. He has an extensive record of publication in the field of design and in art and design education, including “Design and the Social Sciences: Making Connections” (Taylor & Francis, 2002). A dual citizen of Canada and Argentina, he has also published three books in Spanish, and serves on the editorial boards of publications in both countries, including “Design Issues” (Carnegie Mellon / MIT); “Information Design Journal” (John Benjamins); and “Tipographica” (Buenos Aires). He has organized several international conferences, advised and reviewed design education programs and has presented lectures in twenty-five countries. Jorge is a Fellow of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada and a member of the Icograda Past-Presidents Forum.
