Students interested in the teaching of art may pursue K-12 art teaching licensure through this major, offered in cooperation with the College of Education and Human Services Professions. The program includes experience in a range of art studio areas, art history and arts education methods courses. Students apply for admission to the licensure program and complete the courses required by the State Department of Education and the Board of Teaching.

Field experiences are central to this major, and include arranged teaching in the area elementary grades and in public and private agencies, observation and participation in the area secondary schools, and extensive supervised student teaching.

GPA of at least 2.50 in the major field is required for graduation. No grade of less than C-minus may be earned for any course in the major.
