Drug and Alcohol Policy

Federal laws require the University to carry out a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use or distribution of illegal drugs, and abuse of alcohol by its students and employees. The University prohibits the unlawful possession, use or distribution of alcohol and controlled substances by students and employees on all of its campuses and facilities and as part of its campuses and facilities and as part of University-sponsored activities.

Within the housing facilities, the possession, consumption, and or association with possession of alcoholic beverages, and/or possession of alcoholic containers, regardless of age, is not permitted.

The University also prohibited the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of controlled substances in the workplace. Copies of the UMD compliance reports are available in the Chancellor’s Office, 515 Darland Administration Building.
