Welcome
to the 2003 NCAA Women's Frozen Four
The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) is proud to host
the third NCAA Women's Frozen Four.
The four-team national women's ice hockey championship
is scheduled for March 21 and March 23 at the 5,333-seat
Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC).
"We are extremely excited to have the opportunity
to bring the Women's Frozen Four to Duluth,"
said UMD Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Bob
Corran. "There is a rich history of girl's and
women's hockey in northeastern Minnesota and hosting
the Frozen Four in Duluth will add another chapter
to that history."
UMD captured the first two Women's Frozen Four titles.
The inaugural event was held in Minneapolis in March
of 2001 as the Bulldogs took a 4-2 decision from St.
Lawrence University in the national final. Last season,
UMD defeated Brown University, 3-2, in Durham, NH.
The 2003 Frozen Four will mark the third time UMD
has been awarded an NCAA national event. UMD hosted
the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championships
in both 1968 and 1981.
