Biology 1012 Laboratory Schedule – Spring 2008

All Lab Sections meet once each week for 2 hours 15 minutes.

Students are expected to print out copies of lab exercises and bring them to lab each week. There are blue links to exercises in the schedule below (updated throughout the semester). Use your UMD username and password to access them. You need Adobe Reader to be able to open the files. Campus computers have this program. You can download it for free here.

Please note that your attendance in the laboratory is mandatory. If you miss more than 3 labs or discussions you will not pass this course.

Evaluation of Lab Performance:
The Biology Department and the instructional staff place a high value on the learning experiences to be gained in the laboratory and discussion. Attendance is important and you must not miss more than 3 laboratory or discussion sessions to earn a passing grade. Approximately 30% of your total points will be earned in lab. Your scores on laboratory practical exams and assignments will be added to your cumulative total for the course. Consult the laboratory schedule for dates of the practical exams (40 points each), and the due dates for laboratory reports (60 points total). Other quizzes (20 points total) and lab assignments (10 points total) are given at the discretion of the lab instructor. They may vary somewhat with each instructor and section.
