Course Welcome from Instructor: Welcome to Health Science Terminology Online! This course is entirely online and will follow the regular semester start and end dates. It is each student's responsibility to complete the assigned chapters in the textbook, which is a workbook (see syllabus for textbook titles.) As you complete the workbook exercises, it will allow you to assess your understanding of the material. You can then log into the Web CT website (directions below) to review lessons and to take the chapter Pre-Quizzes which are not graded. You may review the lessons and take each chapter Pre-Quiz as many times as you like to quiz yourself and determine your knowledge level prior to taking the actual Mastery Exam for each of the three (3) modules. The pre-quizzes do not cover all material found on the Mastery Exams. TESTING: When you know the material from the first five (5) chapters and are ready to take your first Mastery Exam, you MUST contact the instructor to sign up for a testing time in the computer lab. We have designated testing times on many Wednesdays during the semester. You need to contact the instructor at kskrbich@d.umn.edu to arrange a testing appointment. If you are unable to make any of the scheduled computer lab test times, please contact Karen Skrbich via email or at 726-7719 to discuss other times. On testing day, you will come to the computer lab just prior to 4:00 PM, log into the Web CT website, and take the on-line Mastery Exam (Exam Login Passcode given to you when you arrive.) You may take the Mastery Exam for each section only once and will have 50 minutes to take an on-line test in the computer lab. Be sure to study not only the word part meanings, but also anatomy, diseases, medical tests and procedures. Mastery Exam questions will cover all of these topics. It is best to learn the material over a few weeks rather than to try to learn it all in one week. Usually students take the three exams about a month apart throughout the semester. See Syllabus for timeline and available testing dates. Please bring your student ID along when you come to the computer lab. CREDITS: Students may take the class for 1, 2 or 3 credits. Credits and chapters are:
Each on-line test will be objective (multiple choice) covering the information in the workbook, lessons and on the Pre-Quizzes. UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA, DULUTH - HLTH

Once you begin the actual on-line exam in the lab, you will have 50 minutes to take the test. Please be at the computer lab for testing by the top of the hour since we only have the lab for 50 minutes. After 50 minutes, the web site will not allow you to continue.
