Correspondence Student Checklist

Correspondence courses offered through UMD Continuing Education provide learners with a more traditional approach to distance education. While some of the courses offer a flexible start date with 16 weeks to complete the course, other courses adhere to the traditional semester dates. Some of the courses require students to submit coursework through the US mail, while other courses allow students to email their coursework to the instructor. Students taking correspondence courses complete the coursework independently, and face-to-face meetings are not typically required. Students may contact their instructor via email or phone.

The UMD Library has a comprehensive collection of materials and special services for distance education students.
