Cancellations and Refunds
Fall 2008

You must officially cancel your registration in any class in which you no longer intend to participate. You may use the "Course Cancellations" section of the Continuing Education Registration Form or cancel online (go to www.d.umn.edu/Register; click on "Add or Change Classes"; select the appropriate term; click on the "Drop" file tab and then follow the instructions). Failure to attend class or stop payment on a check does not constitute cancellation.

Unless you officially cancel, you will be responsible for full tuition and fees. The date you submit a course cancellation by telephone, mail (postmark date), fax, online or in person is the date used to determine your refund amount. See Refunds for more information.

Note: If you cancel classes prior to paying your tuition, you are responsible for time-in-attendance tuition and fees based on the refund policy. Special consideration may be given for course cancellations due to medical problems, attendance at other academic institutions, rules of individual academic departments, active military duty, or disciplinary actions. Submit appropriate documentation and a completed petition form to CE Registration.

* Petitions for CE students are available from CE Registration windows in the Darland Administration Building lobby.

Refunds

The date you submit a course cancellation by telephone, mail (postmark date), fax or in person is the date used to determine your refund amount. Refunds apply to tuition and course fees but not to certain special fees.

There are no retroactive refunds for either canceling a class or withdrawing from a semester or term. However, special consideration may be given for course cancellation due to medical problems, attendance at other academic institutions, rules of individual academic departments, active military duty, or disciplinary actions. You must provide documentation for exemption from the refund policy and complete a University petition form.
