Certificate Program
Undergraduate Program
If you are interested in training in American Sign Language (ASL), this certificate program is intended for you. The program is designed for teachers, prospective teachers, paraprofessionals, other related professionals, employers and employees working in any setting, and community members who work or interact with children or adults who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The six-course series offers the opportunity for you to build your knowledge and skills in ASL and develop an understanding of deaf culture. Participants in the 18 credit certificate will gain proficiency in ASL at the high intermediate level and be able to demonstrate an understanding of deaf culture. The certificate is designed to be completed in 2-3 years.

To apply for admission to the ASL Certificate program, you must be a high school graduate or have completed a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Admission to the certificate is based on previous college performance. To be admitted to the certificate, you must have completed at least eight semester credits at the post-secondary level, have a minimum overall GPA of 2.00, and have satisfactorily completed at least two-thirds of all attempted credits. If you have completed more than 30 semester credits, only the most recent 30 credits are calculated.
