Undergraduate Program

If you are involved or interested in community-service work and want specialized training to enhance your career opportunities, this certificate is designed for you. You will find the certificate useful for professional development and competencies-certification needs in human services and community development.

The program includes both background and individually tailored, career-related studies. You complete core requirements that focus on subjects common to all human-services fields, as well as elective course work in a social science concentration area. You and a CE counselor design your curriculum to satisfy your interests and professional needs.

Concentration requirement - 12 credits from one of the following fields:
addiction studies
child and family development
criminology
family life
health education
psychology

women's studies

Electives 2 credits, minimum:
course(s) from any study field approved by a CE counselor

To apply for admission to undergraduate certificate programs, you must be a high school graduate or have completed a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Admission to certificate programs is based on your previous college performance. Admission is generally approved if you have completed at least eight college-level semester credits with an overall GPA of 2.00. In addition, you must have satisfactorily completed at least two-thirds of all attempted credits. If you have completed more than 30 semester credits, only the most recent 30 credits are calculated.

It is recommended that you schedule a meeting with a CE counselor prior to registering for the first class of your certificate program.
