If you want to gain knowledge in a variety of liberal education areas, this certificate is designed for you. Course work is selected from the UMD Liberal Education Program, which is the overall framework around which all UMD baccalaureate degree programs are designed. With careful planning, the certificate may constitute the freshman year of a degree program in liberal arts or business fields.

Distribution requirement - 21 credits minimum from 6 of the 9 remaining Liberal Education categories:

To apply for admission to undergraduate certificate programs, you must be a high school graduate or have completed a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Admission to certificate programs is based on your previous college performance. Admission is generally approved if you have completed at least eight college-level semester credits with an overall GPA of 2.00. In addition, you must have satisfactorily completed at least two-thirds of all attempted credits. If you have completed more than 30 semester credits, only the most recent 30 credits are calculated.
