Intergenerational

Sharing Across Generations
(S.A.G.E.)

S.A.G.E. is the acronym for a program within the University for Seniors that encourages Sharing Across GenErations.

S.A.G.E. goals for the 2009-10 academic year include:

  1. Increase US exposure as participants in the UMD community via periodic ads in the Statesman, the student newspaper, as well as to publish features and stories of US highlights.
  2. Become more inclusive in student activities, as well as to extend invitations to have students participate in selected University for Seniors’ study groups.
  3. Increase the number of our membership who participates in intergenerational opportunities.

Another new initiative is a partnership we have forged with the Kirby Leadership Institute. Our members will facilitate six discussions with the institute during the first UMD semester.

Additionally over the past few years, the S.A.G.E. committee has filled welcome bags that are distributed to international students as they arrive from countries around the world.

The S.A.G.E. committee is very excited about its new initiatives. We are hopeful that as this academic year progresses, we’ll receive an enthusiastic response from our members. Please contact the US office for more information on how YOU can become involved.
