Using the Web to Register and access Your Student Records
You may access your records Monday through Saturday, 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 a.m., and Sunday, 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at www.d.umn.edu/Register
To look at your May and Summer Session 2008 class information:
1. Know your
Internet ID and password. Your ID is the same as your e-mail user
name. Whenever you access your student records, you will be asked to login.
If you run into difficulties, call 218/726-8000 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30
p.m.
2. Go to http://www.d.umn.edu/Register.
Some of the links on this page require you to sign-on using your Internet
ID and password.
3. When the login screen appears, enter your Internet ID and password. If you haven’t already set up this account, visit the Account Initiation link and authenticate yourself. Once you enter this information, click submit. A screen will appear telling you that you have successfully logged on.
4. Do not close this window!
It must remain active while you access your records. Click Continue
or minimize it and proceed to the next step. Also use this screen to logout
when you are finished.
Updating your Personal Information:
1. Go to View/Change Your Personal Information. Review
all of the tabs to make sure your information is correct. Make changes as
needed.
2. Click the Personal Addresses tab. Home Address is your permanent address. Current Mailing Address is where you wish the University to mail all correspondence, such as special events information and other similar items.
3. Suppress your addresss and phone number? If you do not want your address or phone number available to the public via the Internet during the time you are enrolled in UMD courses, you must activate directory suppression. Click on the Directory Suppression tab and follow the instructions. When you are finished, click Done.
4. Don’t
forget to logout. Make sure you logout so others will not have
access to your personal information.
Adding or Dropping Courses:
1. Take note of the System Status Indicator. The color indicates the system status as follows:
| Green | Web is up |
| Yellow | Web is slow |
| Blue | Web is down |
| Red | Everything is not functioning |
Call 218/726-8000 for assistance, or go to the Student Assistance Center at 21 Solon Campus Center.
2. Check for Holds will allow you to find information on any holds that you may have on your records. Remember, holds are periodically added so check this link frequently.
3. The Class Schedule lists all classes offered for May and Summer Sessions 2008, including Continuing Education courses. The “number of seats available” item is continually being updated too. Click Section Status or Class Schedule to check if the course(s) you want are open.
4. Click on Add or Change Classes to register for May and Summer Sessions 2005. Please note that when you use the Class Search button, a new browser window will open. Click on the “Add Now” button to the left of the course you want to add to your schedule. If you have any questions, call 218/726-8000.
5. When you are finished registering, check your courses by clicking on View your Enrollment Summary at the bottom of the screen. You may customize your Enrollment Summary using the check boxes provided. Click Done when you are finished.
6. You can also
check your courses by using the Printable Version” for a single week
of the “Calendar View” of enrollment. This will allow
you to view an entire week of courses. If you have evening, IDL or
conflicting course work, the details will print on a second page. The link
to access the printable version is available when you select a week to view.
7. Approximately
one week before the beginning of the term, you will receive a current study
list reflecting your registration for the term. Since courses may
have changed since you registered (for example, time/days/room may have
changed or a new instructor may have been assigned), you should review your
study list carefully and make any necessary changes to your registration
before the term begins. Changes to your registration can be made at www.d.umn.edu/Register;
or, if you are a Continuing Education or visiting summer student by visiting
Continuing Education Registration windows in the Darland Administration
Building lobby or calling 218/726-8113.
New Swap Registration Function
This new registration enhancement will allow you to cancel a course in which
you are already enrolled and replace it with a different course or a different
section of the same course. Swap requires a single request rather than two
separate requests - one to drop and another to add. An advantage of using
Swap instead of the cancel/add combination is that Swap will cancel the
first course only if the new course is successfully added.
To utilize the new function
while in the Web registration system, select the Swap button, then select
the course you want to cancel from your existing enrollment. You will then
be prompted to enter the class number for the course you want to add, and
if required, the class permission
number.
Other Important Information:
1. Billing information for May and Summer Sessions 2008 is available on the View My Student Account link. You are required to make payment by the due dates listed. If you have questions, please call Student Accounts Receivable at 218/726-7190.
2. Grades are available on the Registration homepage by checking on View Your Grades & Transcript.
3. Before you leave the Website and computer close any open registration screens, logout of the Account Validation screen and close your browser.
4. Health insurance is required for all admitted degree-seeking UMD students registered for three or more credits. If you are registered at UMD for spring semester 2008 and paid for University student health insurance, your coverage continues through the summer and ends August 19, 2008.
Non-degree seeking and visiting students, and those registered for fewer than three credits are not required to carry health insurance, and are not eligible for coverage.
If covered by your own
insurance, you must enter the carrier name and policy number on the Web
at www.d.umn.edu/Register under
“View/Change Your Health Insurance Information.” If
you do not do this you will be charged for the University health insurance.
You have until June 15 to cancel or add health insurance for the summer.
