Residency Status Definitions
You pay the resident
rate if:
You have maintained a permanent home in Minnesota for at least one calendar
year prior to the first day of class at a post-secondary educational institution.
You pay the appropriate reciprocity rate if:
You are an admitted undergraduate student from Kansas, Michigan, Missouri,
Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin or Manitoba and have been
approved to receive the reciprocity benefit. For more information contact
the Resident Classification and Reciprocity Office Chair, 139 Darland Administration
Building, 1049 University Drive, Duluth, Minnesota, 55812-3011, 218/726-7849.
If you now receive reciprocity, and come to UMD for the summer from another University of Minnesota campus or other Minnesota system, notify your home state you have switched campuses or systems.
If you are a current UMD student who receives reciprocity, you may continue to receive it for May and Summer Sessions 2008.
If you are a visiting summer student, you pay resident tuition rates unless you qualify for Wisconsin reciprocity. The regular application process for reciprocity applies.
Reciprocity agreements for admitted Graduate School students exist with only North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Manitoba. Contact the Graduate School, 431 Darland Administration Building, 218/726-7523 for more information.
Billing and Payments
Electronic Billing

The University has implemented an electronic billing and payment system.
All currently enrolled students with a University e-mail account will be

You will then be directed to a secure Website to view and/or print your billing statement. You will have the option of making payments electronically from a U.S. bank account. Full details are available at the UM Pay site www.d.umn.edu/umdbo/umpay.html. You have approximately three weeks from the date of the billing statement until tuition and fees are due.
Current Address:
It is your responsibility to maintain a correct address on your University
record. You can verify your address on the Web at www.d.umn.edu/Register
and click on “View/Change Your Personal Information.”
