Instructor of Record

Instructor of Record refers to the name of the instructor on the class section record in PeopleSoft.  It is the person responsible for assigning the grade for students registered in the course.  In most cases, it is the person who was responsible for delivery of instruction for the course.

Other cases:

If for any reason the person who delivers instruction for the course cannot be hired by the University and thus be entered to PeopleSoft as instructor of record, a regular faculty member (usually the department head) may be designated as Instructor of Record.  Appropriate documentation of the grading process will be maintained in the department.

If a Special Registration Proposal is approved for participation in a professional development activity, and supplemental work is required, the Instructor of Record will be responsible for grading the supplemental work, and assigning final grades for the course.  The instructor of record will receive the stipend as approved in the Special Registration Proposal.

Under a Special Registration Proposal, where no supplemental work is required and grades are determined by the person responsible for delivery of instruction, the stipend will go to the Department.
