M.Ed. in Environmental Education Admission

Students are admitted to the M.Ed. in Environmental Education program each fall and spring semester. Application deadline for the fall semester is February 1, application deadline for the spring semester is October 1. Admission decisions will be made approximately one month after application deadline.

All applicants must submit the following: 

 

  • A completed Application for Admission (Word file) to the Master of Education (M.Ed.) Degree Program form.
  • A $31.00 application fee.
  • An official transcript documenting completion of a Bachelor's Degree; minimum undergraudate GPA of 2.8 is recommended (minimum of 3.0 required for transfer of graduate level courses).  [OFFICIAL means they must be sent DIRECTLY to the Collegiate Graduate Programs Office from the undergraduate institution.]
  • Students whose first language is not English must submit a TOEFL score of at least 550 on the paper-based exam; 213 on the computer-based exam; or 79 on the Internet-based exam (minimum scores of 21 in writing and 19 in reading).   • Supporting materials:
  • A letter of application describing your motivation behind pursuing this field and degree, your career goals, and your goals for graduate study.
  • Resume
  • Three examples of your work (examples might include curriculum or lesson plans; descriptions of teaching experience or work in professional organizations; copies of grant proposals, articles, or research results, etc.)
  • Three letters of recommendation that speak to your potential as a graduate student and environmental educator - addressed to the Collegiate Graduate Programs Committee (see address below) .
  • Students interested in receiving a graduate assistantship position must also include a brief letter of intent indicating your interest in a graduate assistantship (GA). Receiving a GA is dependent upon your qualifications and availability of funding.  Students are also encouraged to seek their own opportunities for support in an appropriate thesis/field project area, with faculty assistance.

NOTE:  Admission is competitive.  Applicants who are accepted into the program should register for courses the semester following their acceptance.  Students who cannot begin the program the following semester may need to reapply for admission.
