WISCONSIN LICENSURE

UMD programs are approved to meet Minnesota teaching licensing standards. Students interested in a teaching license in the state of Wisconsin should be aware of these additional requirements in that state.

Out-of-State Requirements

To be recommended for a Wisconsin license, UMD graduates must meet all Minnesota standards and have passing scores on Minnesota required license examinations. In addition, UMD graduates must meet statutory requirements applicable in Wisconsin. The following requirements are NOT met by UMD programs.

As a result, UMD graduates will be issued a two-year License with Stipulations.

Testing

Use this link to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for the most up-to-date information on Praxis test requirements.

Students who do not achieve passing scores on the required tests for Wisconsin will be awarded a one-year license to provide time to take and pass the tests.

Teaching Social Studies 5-12

All Secondary and K-12
