Meeting 7: Summary
The Un-Fair Campaign has 12 community partners including UMD and will be publicly launched on January 24. Upcoming campus events include a Monday noon film series, training workshops, Tim Wise’s visit on February 16, and a display of books and posters. Because colleagues in the UM Office of Equity and Diversity (OED) are also discussing gender neutral restrooms, we will wait to see what they have learned before proceeding. We welcomed two new UCTs: School of Medicine and American Indian Programs. UMD Office of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity is partnering with OED on additional training programs. Definitions of equity, diversity and social justice were sent to ISAT and the ECCA on December 29 (Goal 2, Action Step 1). The Campus Climate website will updated. Student Focus Groups will be conducted for GLBT students, students with disabilities, and women students. A McNair proposal is being developed. The Curriculum Integration website (Diversity Commission) is an excellent resource and showcase for this work. Divisions by employee classification should be discussed.
